Lifetime Networks Ottawa Merges with
Citizen Advocacy of Ottawa

The Board of Directors of
Lifetime Networks Ottawa (LNO)
and
The Board of Directors of
Citizen Advocacy of Ottawa (CAO)
are pleased to announce
the merger of the two organizations effective immediately
following many months of research, discussions and negotiations
and pursuant to a unanimous LNO general membership vote on June 9, 2010.
Both organizations are excited about this new chapter with Lifetime Networks Ottawa benefitting from Citizen Advocacy’s resources, experience and history, and Citizen Advocacy looking forward to Lifetime Networks Ottawa’s expertise in developing and overseeing personal support networks for the lifetime of a person with a disability.
The new Advisory Committee of LNO under Citizen Advocacy Ottawa, and Brian Tardif, Executive Director of CAO, will strive to make the transition as smooth and seamless as possible. As in any new union, time for some adjustment is to be expected but at the same time an infusion of energy is already palpable. We are confident that in an environment of collaborative trust and working towards common goals, the adjustment will be short lived and the energy contagious.

Familytalks.ca is a new interactive website created by
PLAN Institute that allows people to gather around a "virtual kitchen table" to have a "family talk" about possibilities – about our dreams and our fears – about the futures we want – about the world that we can imagine and co-create – about what’s working and not working – about our creativity to find new ways forward – about our collective responsibility for others – about our sources of inspiration. Familytalks is an opportunity to be heard – to hear others’ voices – to meet new people – to make new friends – to find fellow travelers. Familytalks is your conversation. On this site you will find many ways to get involved. Please take a few minutes to explore and get involved. We want your voice in the conversation. There are a number of groups and forums including one for people interested in social networks for people with a disability in the Ottawa area. Or start your own!
