About Us
Lifetime Networks Ottawa (LNO) exists to facilitate the establishment and ensure the continuance of a loving and caring Personal Support Network in the lives of persons with a disability.
We provide families with a trained community connector to help them build a circle of committed friends around the individual with a disability. This network actively supports the person at the centre in a variety of ways. LNO monitors the networks for the lifetime of the person, ensuring that the network is active and functioning as it should be.
In addition, LNO offers workshops on topics of interest to families who have a son or daughter with a disability to help them plan a good life, both now and in the future. We also provide social activities that further reduce the isolation of our members and to provide an opportunity for families to network.
Lifetime Networks Ottawa, a non-profit charitable organization (Reg# 86777 6577 RR0001), was created by and for families who have a relative with a disability.
LNO was built on the drive and determination of a group of families who were inspired by the work of an organization called Planned Lifetime Advocacy Networks (PLAN), based in Vancouver, BC. Representatives from PLAN guided these parents through the start-up and establishment of Lifetime Networks Ottawa as an affiliate of PLAN. LNO was incorporated and obtained charitable status in the year 2000.

OUR CORE VALUES
- LNO is a family driven, family run organization. Several of our board members have a family member with a disability and family members are the driving force behind our activities.
- LNO believes in safety and security through relationships. Friendships and relationships form the basis of a safe and secure life, which ultimately provides peace of mind to the family.
- LNO is self sufficient. Independence from government funding makes us effective and accountable directly to the families we serve, and are not at the mercy of political changes. This allows LNO to speak on behalf of its families without fear of repercussions.
